A group of pilgrims with mental illness begins today the Camino de Santiago

The aim of the Galician Federation of mental health, among others, is to transfer an image to society standardization of these people and eliminating prejudices

Peregrinos por la salud mental

FEAFES, the Galician Federation for Mental Health, organized for the seventh consecutive year the Peregrinos por la salud mental activity, with which I as each time the participation of people with mental illness is sought, but also of some of his relatives, for walk the Camino de Santiago for a few days. In this edition a group of 50 pilgrims will travel the last 28 kilometers to Santiago de Compostela from the town of O Pino, on the French Way.

More than 50 pilgrims, who have received a guide to go perfectly equipped and prepared for the journey begin their road this Wednesday 28 to reach Obradoiro Square on Friday 30 in the morning, where they will receive a certificate proving that they have completed the distance. The pilgrims will cover the distance between O Pino and Santiago in the mornings, while the afternoons will leave to carry out recreational activities organized by associations participating in the activity and members of FEAFES to socialize.

With Peregrinos por la salud mental, and seek people with mental illness perform physical exercise, group activities and socialize, FEAFES looking to send a message of normalcy to society and to eliminate prejudices and stigmas that exist against them.
