The best films based on the Camino de Santiago

In the same way that historical events, action or science fiction genres have always been inspiration for the film, the Camino de Santiago is not far behind. Even if you do not believe, the Jacobean Route has to his credit with a lot of movies on the road.

The Way

The Way

The Way - 2010

The Way is possibly the Hollywood adaptation more welcome in the American country. Well, it is not that the film had a great impact, but managed to bite the bug many US residents to walk the Camino de Santiago. The film tells the story of Tom Avery - Martin Sheen - renowned ophthalmologist receiving the sad news of the death of her son Daniel in the Pyrenees. In order to move to the place to prepare the funeral, Tom discovers that Daniel was performing the Camino de Santiago, but unfortunately it did not pass the first stage. As estaréis imagining, Avery decides to complete the route that her late son could not.

Three on the Road - 2004

During His Nearly two and a half hours, Three on the Road portrays is part of the exceptional essence of the Jacobean Route: travel, experience and spiritual burden That is reliable to leave on people. This Spanish / Inglés production plunges us into the experiences of three characters: Madoka Mayuzumi, a renowned Japanese poet; Rob Jorritsna, a Dutch social worker; and Milena Salgado, a Brazilian professor of yoga. They will look back on Their experience on the way from the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela, a route by millions of pilgrims since the Middle Ages.

At the end of the road - 2009

The mood has not missed the productions based on the Camino de Santiago. This is the case of the end of the road, a tape that key romantic comedy has two of the actors most fashionable in those years in the Spanish field: Fernando Tejero and Malena Alterio, and who recognize the popular series Aquí No Hay Quien Viva. Nacho - Fernando Tejero - and Pilar - Malera Alterio - are photographer and journalist respectively, although with a ratio by leading the finishing worse than good. That to his boss Inma - Ana Milan - do not matter, because both must make a report on an alleged guru who charges 20,000 euros to resolve the crisis of couple making Camino de Santiago. As you and you will be imagining, from here the funny and crazy situations will happen with other occasional romantic touch. It will not be the best film on the Jacobean route, but it is quite entertaining.

Pilgrims - 2005

There are few films of French humor that end up crossing borders thanks to its more than outstanding staging and how to treat all types of delusions and absurdities. Pilgrims is one of them, and possibly the most fun you will find on the list. With a dramatic backdrop in which three brothers learn of the death of his mother, both decide to make the Camino de Santiago. The reason? That is the only way to get the family inheritance. What at first may seem attractive, not at all is the case of its protagonists, because the peculiar triumvirate does not take anything right between them; adding that none of them like to walk. Along with six other people, the brothers discover new experiences and of course, find themselves.

American - 2005

What at first was going to be a peaceful and quiet trip to Europe for Chris McKinley, ended up becoming an experience that would change completely. American is the staging of two of the most important events in our country, the San Fermines and Camino de Santiago. Chris will encounter filled with the feast of Pamplona, where he meets the beautiful Adela. This will not end his tour of Spain, because this American fall surrendered to the charm of the Jacobean Route. A film that, although it is not all bad, thanks to its romantic touches and comedy, make us spend time entertaining.
