'Saber Universal', a project to promote accessible tourism in the Way

This week will start in Rieti (Italy) the initiative 'Universal Knowledge' with the aim of promoting and make a Camino de Santiago more accessible for tourists with special needs. The project will seek to raise awareness among public authorities and private establishments, to work in a better adaptation of the facilities. This initiative was approved by the General Directorate of Research and Innovation of the European Commission last month, within the framework for the Competitiveness of Enterprises, focusing efforts on the most media pilgrimage route, the French Camino de Santiago in Spain.

The initiative will also promote accessible tourism in the Way of San Benedito Italy. Thanks to this program an assessment of the situation of services and adaptations of facilities will be made the pilgrimage route. There will also be training for tour operators, with the aim of promoting tour packages accessible to users with special needs. On the initiative and in all activities, participate Turismo de Galicia.
