We tell you where you can get the credential in Valencia before you leave to do the Camino de Santiago
More and more people have in mind to do the Camino de Santiago. Going through each of the stages of any Jacobean route is an unforgettable and very beneficial experience, since it allows you to get away from the busy daily routine. However, before starting the adventure, there are some prerequisites to consider. Before doing the Camino de Santiago, it is advisable to plan well the things that you have to take, without overlooking any of the most important and representative objects of the Camino, such as the credential.
The Camino de Santiago credential is a document that is folded in the form of an accordion, in which pilgrims collect stamps from the places where they have passed. With it, it is verified that a person has really traveled at least the minimum 100 kilometers and can be done with the compostela once they arrive in Santiago. Although the compostela is the title that we obtain at the end of our route and that makes us officially pilgrims, the credential is the first document that we have to obtain to justify the completed stages.
For those who do not know, there are many ways to obtain the precious credential of the Camino de Santiago. The Pilgrimage Office of the Diocese of Santiago has an official model of the Camino de Santiago credential distributed so that pilgrims can obtain the credential more easily. The most common places where we can get it are hostels, brotherhoods, parishes or among others. However, first of all there is one thing to keep in mind. Although the credential is available in many places, it can happen that due to the large influx of pilgrims they are exhausted and some are left without it. The best way to avoid this situation is to get it in advance in our own city.
In many cities there are so-called associations of friends of the Camino de Santiago. These associations are non-profit organizations that provide information on everything related to the Camino de Santiago and allow pilgrims to obtain the credential in advance. In the city of Valencia, there is the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago of the Valencian Community, which also has the official model of the credential and that will allow pilgrims to get their way. This point is especially recommended for all those pilgrims who are going to cover the more than 800 kilometers of the Camino del Levante and thanks to this they are going to enjoy Castilla La Mancha starting from the province of Albacete, crossing from one point to another Castilla y León and get to Galicia where to end your journey there.
