It will not be the first time that the Embalse de Yesa is swallowed part of the Camino de Santiago; Already in 1960 finished with some sections.
The controversial works to expand the dam of Yesa, a reservoir located at northwest of the Aragonese province of Zaragoza and in the northeast of the Community of Navarra, will destroy a large number of historic monuments. Due to the fllood, in less than a year will disappear until 22 kilometers of the Way of Santiago and, probably, two romanesque hermits. We must remember that the Camino forms part of the places and monuments of World Heritage, reason why these works are indignant to great amount of pilgrims.
It will not be the first time that the Embalse de Yesa is swallowed part of the Camino de Santiago; already in 1960 destroyed some sections that used by the pilgrims to arrive until the tomb of the Apostle Santiago. On that occasion the dam knock down entire villages and now the surface of the water will double, affecting 22 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago, along with hermitages, necropolis and Roman sites.
For the moment justice does not give reason to the neighbors, who see how the works go ahead.
