It is not the first time we spoke of the increase of tourists and pilgrims this year in Galicia, but now have to talk about a particular point, Rías Bajas and Pontevedra. Probably the most visited part of Galicia during the summer months, Pontevedra is experiencing a significant increase in visitors this year.

During last July, according to data from the Municipal Office of Tourism and tourist booths, the Galician city has received about 5,668 tourists, representing an increase of 24% over the figure obtained in the same month of 2015. 4,737 are Spanish tourists (mainly from Madrid), while 931 (16.4%) are foreigners. The most commonly used housing options were hotels and cottages, directly improving the economy of the city.

In addition to the good weather and the cultural activities of Pontevedra, most tourists (5,536) visited the city for the first time to know the offer. Moreover, about 522 tourists arrived in that city following the Camino de Santiago.
