León will host the celebration of the Plenary Session of the Jacobeo Council on April 9

It is the main cooperation body between administrations related to the Jacobean Route

The city of León has been chosen as the venue for the celebration of the Plenary of the Jacobean Council, a meeting that will take place on April 9. After being notified of the decision, the mayor, Antonio Silván, has expressed his satisfaction for the good news. Silván, acting as president of the Association of Municipalities of the Camino de Santiago, signed an agreement on February 7; This indicated his collaboration with the Ministry of Culture to intensify the relationship between both institutions. The purpose of this decision is to improve knowledge, promotion and maintenance of the infrastructure of the Jacobean routes.

The Plenary will be in charge of deciding actions for the signage, layout, delimitations and maintenance of the Camino de Santiago in each and every one of the historic branches. Not only do they have to make decisions about rehabilitation and conservation of the assets linked to the historical-cultural heritage, but they also have to devise activities for the promotion of the Camino de Santiago and, in this way, culturally and touristically disseminate the place, both nationally and internationally. In particular, all their attention is focused on assistance to the pilgrim, always trying to maintain the environment and creating special activities and activities in relation to the celebration of the Jacobean Holy Years.

The Jacobeo Council (cooperation body) aims to facilitate communication between the Autonomous Communities of the Camino de Santiago and the General State Administration, the latter being represented by departments with competences in Education, Culture, Tourism, International Cooperation, Territorial Cooperation , Economy and Finance, Development and Environment.
