The Academia Xacobea born to analyze and promote the Camino de Santiago

The institution, which will promote a literary contest in 2017, born under the protection of the Order of Santiago and with the support of the Consellería de Cultura of Galicia

The Order of Santiago has presented this week its own center of studies in the Hostel Los Reyes Católicos in Santiago de Compostela, which will have vocation of civil and non-administrative entity. The Academia Xacobea born with the objective of promoting the Way of Saint James and disseminating its value and importance in cultural areas as important as literature or art, for which it will count since its birth with the close collaboration of several universities through some Of their professors.

Academia Xacobea, which will have the leadership of Xesús Palmou, lawyer and politician, has presented as its first honorary member to the professor of the University of Santiago de Compostela Marcelino Agís, who has warned that there is still much to investigate regarding the Camino de Santiago. In the study of the Jacobean Route will soon join Agís María Josefa Sanz Fuentes, Professor of Sciences and Historiographic Techniques of the University of Oviedo, as announced Palmou.

Among the activities programmed by the Academia Xacobea for its first months of life we ​​find the celebration of the first novel contest "Camino de Santiago", whose endowment will be commissioned by the Consellería de Cultura, and which will seek to claim the Jacobean Route as a source of inspiration. As a result, between 2011 and 2014, more than 500 books were published in countries such as Spain and Portugal with the Camino de Santiago as a backdrop.
