The Portuguese Way fill of Portuguese pilgrims the Rías Baixas, where have beaten record of visitors this holidays
It seems unbelievable, but it's true; During this weekend arrived to Santiago de Compostela up to 3,450 pilgrims after traveling the Camino de Santiago in Easter (1,874 Saturday + 1,576 Sunday). This number exceeds in almost 400 people those who received their compostela during the months of January -1,355 pilgrims- and February -1,696- combined (3,051 pilgrims in total). The good weather in Galicia this Easter has caused many pilgrims to launch the route of the Jacobean route this past week, starting from usual points such as Sarria or Tui, walking stretches of 4, 5 or 6 stages to Santiago de Compostela. It should be remembered that in order for the 3,450 pilgrims to have been able to pick up their compostela, they must have departed from at least 100 km away.
The Portuguese Way has been one of the routes most benefited by the torrent of pilgrims of this Holy Week, just behind the French Way, as usual. Public and private hostels and hotels of the Portuguese route from the Pontevedra town of Tui to Santiago have hung the complete poster all last week, especially until last Thursday Holy.
