The first autumn snowfall surprised pilgrims in O Cebreiro

The warm weather of recent weeks has encouraged many to begin the Camino de Santiago at this time

The first snow of the season has come to the mountains of Galicia (as in the Alto do Cebreiro, 1,300 meters), surprising some pilgrims on their way from O Cebreiro to Santiago de Compostela. Despite the good weather of recent weeks had encouraged many of them to begin their pilgrimage, the provisions of these days had put everyone on notice, so both hoteliers as pilgrims have faced both Sunday and Monday well prepared both shelter and supplies to get warm.

Although currently the snow has not yet fully in O Cebreiro and surroundings, snowplows had to work last night to clear the road between Sarria and Pedrafita, in the Alto do Poio. It is anticipated that the snow level down to 800 meters above sea level during this Monday, and the minimum temperatures are lower than usual for this time of year. From Wednesday it is expected the arrival of an anticyclone in Galicia will produce an increase in temperature around 8 and 10 degrees.
