The Winter Way will not be settled with local funds

After the official recognition, Monforte council refers to the regional government to finance road improvements

Just a few weeks ago it came into force recognition as an official The Winter Way route by the Xunta de Galicia, a long-awaited news that will bring equality with other routes. However, it seems that the consequences of this officialdom still take some time to materialize, and the necessary improvements in the layout of the route, despite collective complaints focused on the recovery of Winter Way.

The association Camiños a Santiago pola Ribeira Sacra has been exhibiting in recent weeks problems with the route passing through the concello of Monforte, claiming among other things a stream crosses its path. However the town council recalled that since the Winter Trail is official conservation rests exclusively with Xacobeo in charge from now the exclusive management of the track (previously corresponded to each location). José Tomé, mayor of the town, says so in the other locations and Monforte "can not be an exception."

According to the mayor, the first thing that has to happen with the route is that the Xunta draw a redistricting plan Winter Way, mark signaling and define the buildings authorized in its path, among other things, something that says not come up before 2019. Although the municipality has refused so far to give a local to host a pilgrim service office, the mayor said that before that date will be running one in Monforte although for now there is no location or by concrete dates, without also ruled the public concession of a shelter in the future.
