My summer experience was fantastic. I needed a week of peace and quiet, so I decided to walk the Camino de Santiago, specifically the English Way, 113 kilometres in five stages. A simple and beautiful route through which I discovered two distinct parts of Galicia: the seafaring life of the estuaries (marshes, ports, beaches, large towns) and the tranquillity of Galicia's interior villages, forests, and trails.
Throughout the week, I met some wonderful people. We helped each other, we had interesting conversations, and I had memorable experiences.
I was walking in the opposite direction for 45 minutes when I met some Americans wearing flip-flops and we became friends; they wanted me to teach them Spanish because they couldn't understand the grammar, and finally I advised them to just practise Spanish verb conjugations; one of those Americans is now my partner and lives with me in Valencia; I believe his level of learning will skyrocket now, hahahaha. It was a lot of fun waiting in line to see the apostle.
"The Camino de Santiago changes your life," I now understand. It was a revitalising and vitalizing experience for me.
