Camino de Santiago

When is it best to walk the Camino?

Although we would all love to do the Camino de Santiago in a time of the year with the best possible time and with few crowds, the reality is that almost everyone is tied to the conditions of our daily life, our obligations and the little free time of which We have Therefore, unless we are privileged and have complete freedom to choose, as a general rule we have to stand on the Path when we allow our vacation period, which almost always coincides with the summer.

It is precisely this time of year when we have more room to walk the Jacobean route for a few weeks, although, as we always say, it is not an optimal season because of the high temperatures with which we will have to walk for the day and the large agglomerations of pilgrims with Which we will meet in the months of July and August. Therefore, many pilgrims have no choice but to deal with all the inconveniences and travel the Camino at this time, but fortunately it is not the only one.

The Camino de Santiago is there for you to live throughout the year, during the four seasons, but to travel as informed as possible about the conditions of travel in each season of the year we have created this guide by seasons. We tell you what peculiarities you will find in your pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela so that you decide when to make the Camino de Santiago, in spring, summer, autumn or winter.

At all times we will refer to the French Way, the route chosen by the pilgrims from year to year (between 60 and 70% of the total), since to cover the conditions of all the Jacobean routes distributed by the peninsula would be too extensive. As general advice, if we decide to travel the Camino in winter, we must be very careful with the weather conditions of routes such as the Primitive Way or the Northern Way. The same happens with routes of the south of the peninsula in summer, like the Mozarabic Way or Vía de la Plata
