The Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de León says that better signage is needed on the road
With this Year of Mercy just a few weeks of its end (it will on 21 November), the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago and look askance next expected Holy Year of 2021, which is expected to beat again all records of pilgrims on the pilgrimage route. To go paving the way ahead of the big event is coming, in the province of Leon and working on a project focused on identifying and addressing the shortcomings of the layout while the Council continues to provide funding to municipalities and neighborhood councils to adapt the route, having given 70,000 euros this year.
For its part, the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago of León says the importance of the Camino and in particular signaling adapt itself to the new times to achieve greater security in the Camino in the province. Looking ahead to 2021, the association calls for a more "static" signs and "aesthetic" as well as the placement of gateways for pilgrims to overcome some dangerous crosses national roads and a new regulation of shelters.
