A group of sightless and their guide dogs will walk the Camino de Santiago

Next Saturday 20th August a group of 15 sightless pilgrims will leave the region of Valencia at the same time from Castellon and Elche with the aim of completing the Camino de Santiago, reaching Compostela on Thursday, 25. They will find each other in an intermediate point in Cuenca to walk the Camino together to its destination, the cathedral of Santiago, accompanied by their guide dogs and several volunteers who will help them.

According to the Association of Users of Guide Dogs, who has taken the initiative, the sihtless will try to prove that his blindness it is not an obstacle to perform many physical activities like like this, but also to vindicate the rights of the owners of these animals able to move with them freely as they are "their eyes and their safety." The aim of the initiative is that society aware of the importance of guide dogs for their owners and make blind people increasingly find fewer problems accessing public places with them.
