In the province of Pontevedra, in the town of Baiona, you will find one of the most beautiful places to get a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. In this town we find the Silleiro cape, a unique place where we can enjoy both the Galician coast and the rocky natural landscapes of this community.
Located in Baiona, Cape Silleiro was a strategic military point to protect the port of Vigo during the 40's. That is why we currently find the remains of an artillery battery which was abandoned in the 1980s. What there is no trace of today is the security perimeter that limited this area, since it was removed in 1998.
If you visit Cape Silleiro today, you can enjoy the landscape that combines the Atlantic Ocean and the Galician coast, as well as the remains of the military zone in the area. More and more tourists are visiting the area and contemplate from there the entire Atlantic coastline.
Cape Silleiro is one of the most emblematic areas of the Rías Baixas, there are many more places that we can highlight. Many pilgrims coming from the Portuguese Way along the coast, are witnesses of many of them since they leave from Tui until they arrive to Pontevedra, city from which they change their direction to the north.
