Pilgrims already have plans to return in 2018

During these first days of September, coinciding with the end of the weeks of greater agglomerations in the Camino de Santiago, we have made a macro-survey among our community of pilgrims. Taking advantage of the great growth of the community of ViveCamino during the last year we wanted to have all the pilgrims who visit us and who have traveled the Camino de Santiago during this year, although there is still a lot of 2017 ahead.

The questions we have asked have treated the Jacobean route from all points of view and with the survey already closed, having participated more than 400 walkers, we share with you the first results.

Two of the key questions that pilgrims in the community have had to answer are about the degree of satisfaction with which they have returned home after walking and whether they will repeat the experience soon. As for the second, we have found that, overwhelmingly (61.7%), pilgrims who have traveled the Camino during this year are already planning to return next year. The other large group, 35.2%, also wants to repeat the experience, but has no concrete plans when it will do so. Finally, a minority (3.1%) is not clear whether the experience has been rewarding enough to repeat.

It is significant that no participant has chosen the options "No, I prefer to try other experiences" or "No, the experience has not been good", which proves that at least among the participants in the survey, the experience on the Camino de Santiago in 2017 has been enough to engage the pilgrims again on another chance.

The experience of making the Camino, good or excellent

As for the note that pilgrims put on their way to the Camino de Santiago this year, the Jacobean route approves of the four possible options, 78.7% of the participants believe that their experience has been "excellent "and 19% rated it as" good. " There are also about 2% of the pilgrims who have not been satisfied for one reason or another: 1.7% qualify their experience as "regular", 0.2% as "not very good" and another 0.2 % as "disappointing.

In the next few days we will continue analyzing the results of the ViveCamino survey, with other questions such as the routes most chosen by the pilgrims, the most chosen starting points, the veteran of the walkers or their origin. It should be clear that this survey has no official purpose, it is only a consultation between the pilgrims of the community of ViveCamino, both in our portal and our social networks, with open and anonymous participation, and the results are data guidelines.
