O Acebo is the first place visited by pilgrims on the Primitive way following their entry in Galicia.
This is a village with a tiny population, hardly any houses and a bar/shop that opens variable hours but, that may serve as refuge from the rain and allows pilgrims to recuperate strength after the last long climb from the mountain port of Asturias.
There are walkers who choose to begin their Camino from here. The easiest way to arrive is by taxi from A Fonsagrada or from a nearby village close to the Asturian border. For these hikers and for those who began their Way in Oviedo there are 14 kilometres that separate them from the first location of reference on the Primitive Way in Galicia.
If you are traveling on the Camino de Santiago or are planning to do so soon, you should know that the distance separating O Acebo from Santiago de Compostela is 170 kilometers.
