Camino de Santiago

The Camino de Santiago is increasingly identified in our society as an important symbol of overcoming and coexistence, being chosen by people with all kinds of stories behind to live a unique life experience. The last to take this magnificent journey are 12 patients treated for breast cancer of Infanta Leonor Hospital (Madrid), which will start covering from this Monday 19th of September the last kilometers of the pilgrimage route from the Galician town of Vilalba.

The challenge corresponds to the third edition of the Camino de esperanza, which began in 2012 with great success and bring these women to Santiago de Compostela on September 24 after traveling 125 kilometers. The goal, to create an intense experience of coexistence among these patients so they can share their personal experiences and his breath of hope comes away other women in the same situation. Breast cancer is not an impediment to lead a normal and active life, which these women want to show this experience walking on foot.

The 12 patients won't walk alone, with them medical personnel moves this week in which we found between professionals as a medical oncologist, a pharmaceutical or physiotherapist, all related in some way to the pathology. In addition the entire group will be supported at all times by a minibus where luggage and medical supplies are transported.
