Agés Information

The easiest way to reach Agés is via Burgos, 20 kilometres away. From Burgos there are two possibilities, via the N -1, through Atapuerca, or to follow the N -120, and turn off at Santovenia de Oca. Both are similar in distance. The buses that cover this journey between Burgos and Logroño stop in Santovenia de Oca, a little over 5 kilometres from Agés, and make another stop at the junction of a hotel, 2 kilometres away. There is no train station or local taxi drivers, so hikers need to rely on the services of Burgos. The price is about 30 euros and, a little more expensive at the weekends.

Taxis and backpack transport

Correos offers a delivery backpacks service so you can walk without loads and enjoy the routes and stages. You can also purchase a packaging and shipment of bicycles service. The price is 42,03 euros (VAT included, shipping to mainland Spain). This is available in all offices.

This area is covered by the taxi drivers of Burgos, for this service pilgrims can call Abutaxi (+34) 947 277 777 or Radio Taxi, (+34) 947 481 010. For the transport of backpacks pilgrims have two options. One is Jacotrans, the company that provides services from St. Jean Pied de Port. The contact for Burgos is: (+34) 650 451 540. Rates are from 7 euros. The usual procedure for those sleeping in public hostels, and thus unable to reserve a place at their next accommodation until their time of arrival –is to designate a bar or another destination point where they can collect their luggage. For those staying in private hostels or hotels, their backpack will be waiting for them at their next accommodation.

In either case it is recommendable to call in advance because the service vehicles with backpacks usually start delivery before 09:00 hours. By noon, they are already at their destination. Another company that also covers the entire route is Camino Facil. The procedure is identical to that of Jacotrans. Hikers should call or email the day before to have everything planned. Backpacks are delivered to their destination by lunchtime. The rates are normally 7 euros although, prices vary according to the number of people and the number of stages covered, for cyclists, the price may be higher. Contact: (+34) 610 798 138 | (+34) 947 585 002 | (+34) 947 580 010; contacto@caminofacil.net. With the same rates and the same methodology another company that also transfers backpacks to pilgrims (and bicycles at a cost 10 euros) is Globetrotte. The contact for Burgos is Luis Angel, (+34) 650 451 540 | luisacero2005@yahoo.es.
