The Stages of Molinaseca

Should a pilgrim need to abandon the Jacobean route and return to their place of origin, they should travel to Ponferrada, an important railway hub in the north east of Spain and from this city they can reach Madrid by bus.

Although the connections by bus between both cities are few and far between. There are only services on Wednesdays and Sundays with the company Autobuses Pelines, (+34) 987410359. On Wednesdays it departs from Ponferrada at 07.30 and at 12.30 (the journey takes approximately half an hour, for this reason departures from Molinaseca are at 10.10 and at 15.10).

Correos offers a delivery backpacks service so you can walk without loads and enjoy the routes and stages. You can also purchase a packaging and shipment of bicycles service. The price is 42,03 euros (VAT included, shipping to mainland Spain). This is available in all offices.

In Molinaseca there are several options for taxis. Taxis Rafa functions 24 hours, (+34) 660 096 270. In addition, walkers can also call Jose Luis, (+34) 671 708 070, with a vehicle adapted for the disabled and Radiotaxi, (+34) 987 078 748.   (See Burgos)  

In addition, the taxi driver in Astorga, Marimar Gonzalez also provides a transport service for backpacks from Leon to Ponferrada. The price per bag and stage, usually between 20 and 25 kilometres, costs 7 euros but there are special rates for groups. Equestrian Pilgrims should go to City Hall. The municipal government have enabled a stable where they can leave horses.

Molinaseca does not have a workshop for bikes to help cyclists.
