Mirador de Vilouxe

Throughout the Ribeira Sacra you can find different piers, monasteries and viewpoints, however only some of these places receive the most attention. Obviously they all receive hundreds of tourists throughout the year, however not all of them have become iconic places as the Vilouxe viewpoint has.

In the town of Parada de Sil, you can find the Vilouxe viewpoint. This natural viewpoint offers one of the best views of the Sil Canyons and that is why thousands of people visit it every year. Its panoramic view has become one of the most iconic images of the Ribeira Sacra, thanks to the characteristic shape of a majestic meander that is undoubtedly the protagonist of the place.

Although getting there is not as easy as in the case of other viewpoints, this one offers one of the best perspectives of the Ribeira Sacra. From the viewpoint of Vilouxe you can see how the river Sil changes its course, due to a large meander of more than 700 meters high that descends to touch its waters causing a drop of more than 400 meters.
