Camino de Santiago

Although the way in which the pilgrims we move to Santiago de Compostela every year has remained unchanged since the days of the first medieval walkers, the Route Jacobea is not foreign to the advance of the times. Although a practice as ancestral as the pilgrimage may seem impermeable to a phenomenon such as technology, the fact is that it is increasingly present on the Camino de Santiago, as demonstrated by the arrival of specific applications that we can carry in our hands.

If we are already accustomed to consult all the information about the Camino de Santiago from our mobile phone thanks to tools like the Vive el Camino app, in 2017 we can also commit to its preservation as a historical and cultural heritage. This will be possible thanks to the launch of the mobile application atenta.2, an initiative of the committee of experts of the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Astorga focused on that the pilgrims themselves can give their testimony with information, videos and images of the attacks That undergoes the jacobean route.

Thanks to a geotagged itinerary of the route, we will be able to send information instantly about any problems we may see on the Camino de Santiago, such as suspicious alterations to the route, destruction of property, lack of maintenance by public institutions or simple vandalism of others Pilgrims All the complaints of the users of the app will be valued by a team of professionals, who will value each case to transfer it to whoever it corresponds. The app, which has been presented at the I International Meeting on the Patrimony of the Roads of Santiago, also offers a relief service for injured pilgrims who need assistance.
