The Parish of San Nicolás de Bari in Burgos is a church of great historical and artistic importance in the city, with impressive Gothic architecture and a valuable set of works of art. Considered an active place of worship and an important religious center in the city, the parish was built in 1408 on top of another Romanesque temple.
Cataloged as one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in the city, the parish church has numerous works of art such as altarpieces, paintings and sculptures inside. A special highlight is the space dedicated to the life of San Nicolás de Bari thanks to a spectacular main altarpiece.
The Parish of San Nicolás de Bari is also famous for its choir. Located at the rear of the building, it offers us an impressive set of carved stalls with biblical scenes and allegories. In addition to the altarpiece to San Nicolás de Bari, the Renaissance arch of María Sáez de Oña and Fernando de Mena also stands out. In 1917 the parish was declared a national monument.
