Although the Jacobean phenomenon in the Iberian Peninsula originally started from two different points on the border with France, the truth is that there are also other routes that have managed over the years to have quite an impact. The Camino de Santiago Catalán, for example, was born as an alternative for those pilgrims who dared to cross the Pyrenees on its easternmost side. It is for this reason that different itineraries are discovered within the possibilities that travelers have from Barcelona.

The road that starts from the capital of the autonomous community of Catalonia was in the Middle Ages one of the most chosen ways to enter Spain. Many pilgrims gathered at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat to venture on some of the routes of the Camino de Santiago. Today, in addition to finding numerous references to the apostle, there are also tourist destinations to learn more about the region.

The Costa Brava has become in recent years one of the main attractions of Girona (Barcelona), as you can find a great diversity of beaches, rural areas, natural parks and multiple leisure offers. Hundreds of people are encouraged to walk the various sections, which allow you to enjoy one hundred percent of the beautiful scenery of the Mediterranean coast.

Why walk the Costa Bravas Camino de Ronda?

The Mediterranean coastline has a very special essence, and the Camino de Ronda offers the possibility of enjoying the best views of the Catalan coast. It is a set of paths that run along the steep and rugged Costa Brava; paths that were formed from Blanes to Portbou with the aim of connecting the towns, beaches and coves in the area.

The beaches are one of the main attractions offered by the Camino de Ronda of the Costa Brava. All of them offer incredible panoramic views of the sea. As if this were not enough, it also has a vast territory of protected natural parks. Perhaps one of the most outstanding for its biodiversity is the natural park Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, a space where a large number of species coexist and can be observed from the different observatories.

Stretches of the Costa Brava Coastal Route
