The Stages of Estella

Estella is located on the route between major cities such as Pamplona, ​​Logroño, San Sebastian and Vitoria, a few miles from all of them. The most important connection that links Pamplona and Logroño is the Autovía del Camino (A-12), which links Estella to a number of cities in no more than 30 minutes.   

All walkers who want to start their Jacobean journey here or need to make a stop and return to their place of origin should travel by bus. The company La Estellesa connects, Estella with Logroño or San Sebastian via the Bus line Logroño-San Sebastián-Irún. The same company also offers the possibility to arrive in 50 minutes, to the area of Pamplona, ​​with several daily connections through the line-Logroño-Estella-Pamplona.

See all timetables and rates on this website. The pilgrims can also reach Madrid by coach on the line-Pamplona-Logroño-Madrid. From Estella to the capital two buses depart daily, one leaves at 07.40 and arrives at 12.45 and the other, departs in the afternoon, at 16.40 and arrives in Madrid at 21.45 hours. Conversely, from Madrid to Estella, there is one at 0700 hours and the other at 15.00.

Although in Estella there is no particular place where pilgrims can leave their horse, close to the vicinity, 18 kilometres, there is an Equestrian Centre located in Acedo. This centre offers the possibility of collecting the horses from Estella by horsebox at a cost of 10 euros. The cost of leaving the animal on the premises for one or more days is 15 euros per day.

Estella has two good bike shops where it is possible to repair bicycles or buy an accessory. Most of the hotels or hostels offer free bike parking.
