Due to its size and range of services, many pilgrims decide to spend the night in Melide. In the urban centre there is a public albergue and three private. Hikers following the route will come, firstly to the albergue O Cruzeiro and, after crossing the historic centre they will reach the public albergue, a building of 800 square meters, it is possibly the accommodation with the most spaces for pilgrims on the French Way, with 156 beds in total.
Nearby there is another private hostel, O Apalpador, a recent construction with a friendly atmosphere, small but functional. Another establishment, opened in May 2013, is Pereiro, conveniently situated in the centre. In summer, a time of increased influx of walkers, the council also enables its (Palacio de Congresos) conference centre so that hikers can rest there. However, this option is only available for groups of over 30 people.
Bookings should be made by this email: cultura@concellodemelide.org. As alternative accommodation in the town, there are several hotels and, in particular, several comfortable Guesthouses. Some of the recommended ones include Pousada Chiquitín (near to the public hostel) and Berenguela, in the centre.
For those pilgrims who prefer to have a rest from the route in a charming place, before reaching Melide, in O Coto, the rural house of Somozas can be found, a highly recommended place to sleep and to have breakfast. View all hostels See the rest of accommodation
