On the west coast of the province of A Coruña we find the lighthouse of Muxía. This symbol of the city of Muxía is located in Punta da Barca, in the region of Finisterre. It has a privileged position on the Atlantic Ocean from which it is a witness of sunsets, starry nights and fearful storms.
Although there are more important places in this Galician region, the lighthouse of Muxía is a symbol for its locality. It is part of the Sanctuary of A Virxe da Barca, a religious temple of the 12th century, which is accompanied by the lighthouse and the characteristic stones of its surroundings.
In addition to its natural beauty, if more and more people visit this idyllic place is because the lighthouse of Muxía is an essential part of the Camiño dos Faros. Exactly the lighthouse of Muxía is located in the 6th stage of this pilgrimage route, through which you can know in depth the west coast of the province of A Coruña.
Another Jacobean route that attracts pilgrims to this lighthouse is the Camino de Santiago to Finisterre and Muxía. This route is the only one that starts from Santiago and more and more pilgrims travel it after arriving at the Cathedral.
To live the Camino you must be registered and/or logged. Take the first step and start your story!
