The Palas de Rei forest is located in the town of Palas de Rei (Lugo). If you want to enjoy this wonderful forest and immerse yourself in all the nature that it offers, it is located on stage 29 of the French Way, 68 kilometers from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
The municipality of Palas de Rei has an interesting religious and civil architecture, it is also surrounded by nature of great value. An example of this is the Palas de Rei Forest, a point of interest that allows you to enjoy the large amount of fauna and flora it has.
Crossing the forest near the river, you can see such special bridges as the medieval Ponte Mercede or the Roman Ponte Ferreira, which despite having only one arch, has great historical value. You will also be able to see crosses, granaries, muíños and more typical elements of the town with which to learn about the architecture of the place.
On the other hand, it is the perfect place for nature lovers since a variety of representative tree species such as chestnut, horse or birch survive. The river that is in this forest is the Ulla, the one in charge of separating the neighboring municipality of Antas and that of Monterroso.
