An impregnable medieval fence

Built in the thirteenth century, the walls of Saint-Jean-Pied-De-Port are one of the points that no one should miss if you are going to start the French Way. This town located in the south of France and belonging to the French Basque Country is usually the starting point for all pilgrims who choose this route.

With a historic center of great beauty and simply spectacular scenery, Saint-Jean-Pied-De-Port is a place that has its walls, among other points, as main points of interest.

Access is completely free, the ramparts of Saint-Jean-Pied-De-Port are a real spectacle, giving a complete and beautiful view of the whole town. There are many who recommend following a specific itinerary, more specifically, going along the walls from the Ronda Gate, passing through the Santiago Gate and ending at the Navarre Gate.
