Astorga is an important city with more than 12,000 inhabitants, its benefits from having all possible amenities, such as banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, repair shops, service stations and numerous shops. The tourist office is open all year round, located in the Plaza Eduardo Castro (phone: 987 618 222). The branch of the Association of Friends of the Camino of Santiago is located in the Plaza de San Francisco, 3 (618271773 asociacón@caminodesantiago.com). Pilgrims can acquire the credential in the cathedral museum and in the hostels of the city.
