One of our stops along the Vía de la Plata is in Cáceres. Here we will cross Baños de Montemayor, a municipality and town with great points of interest such as the Church of Santa María. However, this place is best known for the Baños de Montemayor Spa, whose origins date back to Roman times and whose constant attention has made this building an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1995.

It is a completely natural water that comes from two springs very close to each other. The use of these waters goes back many centuries, exactly to the 2nd century BC, when the waters were already flowing and their use was purely therapeutic. With the passing of time, it was decided to transform the aquatic lagoon into a Roman spa.

There are many points that indicate that this spa has Roman origins, not only because of writings or even Roman vestiges found in 1894.
