The church of San Esteban is one of the most impressive places that we can find in Burgos. Its history goes back to nothing more and nothing less than the 12th century, more specifically the year 1163. In it we can find endless works of art, stored thanks to the passage of different patrons over the years.
One of the most outstanding and important aspects of the Church of San Esteban are the characteristics and initiatives linked to education or of a charitable nature. The Patronato San José was one of the most outstanding precisely for serving as a school for orphaned children.
If the Church of San Esteban stands out precisely for its Gothic architecture, one of the reasons that deserves a mandatory visit to the temple is its museum. It has several spaces divided between the Cloister and the Chapter House.
In these areas we find exhibitions related to the mission of the Church or the importance of the Eucharist for being. Another exhibition that is also worth a visit has Andrés Martínez Abelanda as the main protagonist. It is the last altarpiece artist from Burgos who made donations to the museum and in it we will be able to learn about his legacy and importance for the Church and of course the museum.
Collections of goldsmithing, exhibitions of carvings, paintings or other objects related to the Virgin Mary are also several of the rooms that take their place in the museum, ending with the temple of San Esteban and a must-see thanks to the different objects that are there. expose.
