Lisbon has a great cultural heritage among which we can find different places and buildings of the most characteristic that everyone who visits the city has to visit.

Located in the Belém neighborhood, we can visit the Jerónimos Monastery, which is part of the World Heritage Site and has an architectural style that surprises everyone who visits it. In this same neighborhood, we also find another World Heritage building, the Torre de Belém, located on the banks of the Tagus River.

Another area that you have to visit when you are in Lisbon is the Chiado neighborhood, located between the neighborhoods of La Baixa and the Barrio Alto. This neighborhood is the most extravagant in all of Lisbon. In it you can find all kinds of the most original shops, buildings full of colorful tiles, the Livraria Bertrand, considered the oldest in the world, or the Convento do Carmo, a most spectacular building in ruins.

On the other hand, the Commerce Square is the most important in Lisbon and an icon of the city. In it, the royal palace, which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1755, was found a long time ago. Today we can find in this square the bronze statue of José I, who reigned in Portugal, and the imposing Triumphal Arch, which is Located at the beginning of Rua Augusta, the most important in the La Baixa neighborhood.

In the city of Lisbon we can also find different museums, among which the Museo dos Coches stands out, with one of the most important collections of carriages in the world, in addition to the Oceanário, the second largest aquarium in Europe, and its Zoological Garden, with more than 350 species of animals.

Already if we move a little away from Lisbon and go to its metropolitan area, we can find one of the most emblematic monuments in Portugal. In the city of Almada, the National Shrine of Christ the King is located, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and which is 113 meters above the Tagus level.
