For breakfast there are a multitude of cafes that open from early in the day. Many of them can be found at the foot of the route to take advantage of passing pilgrims early in mornings to serve them their first coffee of the day. From 0800 hours they serve a variety of full breakfasts at La Distillery (Obispo Osmund, 5). The best restaurant in Ponferrada is Mencía (Calle Nicholas de Brujas, 14), with unbeatable value for money. At some distance from the historic centre, and with no phones to make reservations the other options include the restaurant Azul Montearenas situated on the N -VI, Asador Bernain (Monja Etérea, 3) and La Bodeguilla (Fernando Miranda, 5), highly recommended for tapas and wine.
