As a large city, pontevedra has an abundance of culinary offerings that cater to the tastes of both local and international diners. As with the majority of Galician costal locations, seafood and fish are its prime products. There is a rich supply of mussels, oysters, clams and scallops available to anyone interested.

Another notable product of the area is the famous crayfish from the nearby town of Marín. In terms of fish, sardines have a great tradition and, have become the focus of the celebrations of San Juan not just in pontevedra but also all over Galicia. The wines from this area also deserve a special mention, which boast the stamp of Denomination of Origin Rias Baixas. Their albariño is a good option and goes down well with any good dish and also serves as a reminder of the area. With regard to desserts, Pontevedra offers all the traditional Galician sweets.
