The Camino de Santiago, although usually related to the pilgrimage on foot or bicycle, is also frequented by pilgrims by horse, a task that requires much more planning than usual. Pilgrims must consider some important factors such as the slope of the road, the stages run through mountainous areas of difficult transition for animals, urban or traffic areas cores, not to mention housing for the horse and feeding a determining factor for the lower supply.

Although no special features are required in the animal for the road, it is important to be well shod and tamed to ensure that does not leave the frightened gallop. Pilgrims for its part must be properly equipped and taken seriously breaks both animal and yours in the midst of the stages.

It is essential to know in detail the points of supply and rest available to the animal and very convenient to book in advance as places in stables and are limited; meanwhile prices vary between 10 and 25 euros per night and horse.
