What to see in A Coruña

A Coruna offers visitors an infinite number of activities to enjoy the city, something for all tastes and pockets. A stroll through Maria Pita Square is a must; here walkers will find a statue in honour of the Heroine of Coruña and the majestic town hall. Pilgrims can also get lost in the Ciudad Vieja (The old city), visit the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria and the garden of San Carlos, where the general Sir John Moore is buried. The tower of Hercules is the oldest working lighthouse in the world. It was declared a world Heritage monument in 2009. It was constructed in the first century and a rehabilitation of its exterior took place in XVIII. It has been linked to a number of legends related to the founding of the City and of the mirror, but one of the most famous is that of Breogan and his son Ith, allegedly Ith was able to see the Irish coast from the top of the tower. For more information regarding visiting hours, see the website. A Coruña also has a collection of scientific museums, headed by the National Museum of Science and Technology (Muncyt) and, completed with the Science museum, the Domus (human body museum) and, the aquarium Casa de los Peces. (http://mc2coruna.org/es/). The castle of San Anton, situated in front of the old city and, the Castro of Elviña are other sites worth visiting. Furthermore there are a number of guided tours, notable is that of the cemetery of San Amaro, with more than two centuries of experience and during which visitors can find out about important Galician figures and can go on an interesting boat excursion on the estuary. If time is not an issue other possibilities, aside from a visit to its many beaches and, a stroll along its promenade is to visit the square of Lugo, which stands out to visitors for the presentation and variety of sea products in its market. For those without financial restraints, the company AFN offers the possibility to see the city from the air, another viewpoint of A Coruña. For more information: http://111.turismocoruna.com

Llevo un par de meses por la zona, aún no la he descubierto todo lo que quisiera, pero tiene un poco de todo. El Casco Histórico es perfecto para ir a dar un paseo rodeado de historia.
